On March 28, 2023, Lilo Emerson announced her commitment to play hockey with the Milwaukee School of Engineering University Raiders starting in the 2023-24 season.
Born in Toronto and raised in Barrie, Lilo Emerson has played as a Shark for 10 seasons, first starting with the Novice (U9) pink house league Sharks in 2013. Lilo has been a member of our Jr. Sharks for the past two seasons and is a grade 12 honours distinction student at Eastview Secondary School where she will graduate in June, 2023.
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) University is a private engineering-focused university located in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Raiders women’s hockey program is an NCAA Division III program that will play their inaugural season in 2023-24, as part of the school’s multi-year plan to increase the number of women’s varsity teams. The team will play regular season games in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, against teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
Lilo is excited to be apart of the inaugural season at MSOE and to play for coach Chad Davis, who previously won 4 league championship and made 3 NCAA tournament appearances while coaching Adrian College’s D-III women's hockey team. “It’s going to be very cool to be a part of that very first team that will set the culture and traditions for years to come,” said Lilo Emerson. “From the many conversations we’ve has over the past 5 months, and the time I spent with him while visiting the campus, I can tell Coach Davis is going to be a great leader for the new program.”
Lilo will study Civil Engineering at MSOE, and said the school has everything she was looking for. “I've known for a long time that I wanted to study engineering, and MSOE has a well respected program with incredible, modern facilities. I also wanted to be on an urban, walkable campus, so I loved MSOE’s small, neighbourhood feel surrounded by a vibrant downtown with restaurants, parks, and galleries. It just felt like home when I visited.”
